The Zodiac Baracuda MX6 is a suction side pool cleaner with high-end features and energy-efficient design. It delivers an exceptionally clean pool, every time, with a design that’s more compact and less expensive than the MX8. The Baracuda MX6 is a great choice for many in-ground pool owners.

Zodiac MX6 Main Details

  • Easy-grip handle
  • 30-foot hose is included
  • Twist-lock hose
  • To handle excess flow, MX Flow Regulator is included
  • Cleans waterline by climbing pool walls
  • Stringy debris like banana leaves can’t be picked up
  • Functions at low pump speeds for energy efficiency.

As a smaller variation of the MX8, the Zodiac Baracuda MX6 provides ease of use and effective functionality. It cleans your entire pool, from the floor to the walls and waterline. It includes X-Drive Navigation, allowing it to control its treads on its own. It can make sharp turns and clean out even the hard-to-reach places in your pool. However, it can’t move in reverse. For remarkable suction strength, the MX6 uses cyclonic suction, which is the same as you’ll see with the MX8.

A hose measuring 30-feet long is included with the Zodiac Baracuda MX6. In comparison, the Zodiac Baracuda MX8 comes with a 36-foot hose. If you have a larger pool and need a longer hose, you can buy additional hose sections.

For heightened efficiency, the Zodiac Baracuda MX6 uses side-suction cleaning that needs a reduced amount of water compared to a typical device. To control excess water flow and ensure that no energy is wasted, the MX Flow Regulator is included. The flow regulator also allows the MX6 to operate well at low speeds. So, if you have variable or 2-speed pumps, the MX6 could be a great pool cleaner to fit your needs. With its ability to function well at reduced speeds, you’ll save both energy and money.

Comparing the Zodiac MX6 and the Zodiac MX8

Although the Zodiac MX6 and MX8 include a significant number of the same features, the two models vary in a few different ways:

  • Size

When it comes to size, the MX6 is more compact than the MX8. Its structure weighs less and is easier to move in and out of the pool. Although the smaller size makes transporting the MX6 simpler, it also means that the cleaning path is more limited. The MX8 has a wider cleaning path, so it cleans more of the pool surface with a single sweep.

  • Hoses

The Zodiac MX6 pool cleaner includes 10 1-meter long hose sections. The MX8, in contrast, comes with 12 1-meter long hose sections. So, the MX8 may be a better choice for pools with larger surface areas. The MX6 is smaller than the MX8 in a number of ways, so if you do have a larger pool, the MX8 would likely be an all-around better choice.

  • Reverse

Unlike the MX8, the Zodiac MX6 can’t move in reverse. It functions with a one-directional control box, which limits its directional options. The MX8 can move in reverse, but the ability of a pool cleaner to do so isn’t essential. The reverse option is convenient in some circumstances, but the MX6 can still do a great job of cleaning your swimming pool.

Decision Time: the MX6 or the MX8?

So, with all of that in mind, which model should you go for? As stated above, the Zodiac MX8 is bigger and therefore better for large pools. For small to average-sized pools, the Zodiac MX6 is the most fitting choice. In addition to being more compact, the MX6 has a more affordable upfront price tag than the MX8. Overall, the difference between the MX6 and the MX8 comes down to size, so it all depends on what type of pool you have.
